Who hasn’t made an assumption, that turned out to be wrong? We all do it, and at times, that can really lead to some headaches, especially if you have to go back and correct a few posts, like fifty or sixty or a hundred. However, there are some ways to help speed that up, such as with the wordpress rss feed plug-in. Continue reading

Wordpress does it make it simple, sort of, to add automation to your blog. You can add feeds from various sponsors, to help populate your blog, but like anything, you need to plan ahead, plan for the additions. One thing to remember is that when you have the basics set up, you can simply add more stuff, for minimal time. It is the set up, that takes the time, but it saves you from headaches, or the ‘damn I wish I had done that earlier’ syndrom. It also can help make your site more profitable, and that is a good thing, don’t you think? Continue reading

Wordpress allows more flexibility for those who have some serious time constraints. The use of automation, such as feeds, as well as the advance scheduling option, allows a person to maintain their revenue streams, while doing other work. It isn’t the optimal solution, but in these days, sometimes it is all one is able to manage. Least it is for me. Thankfully wordpress and its plugins can make those changes, more palatable. When do you find time to actually add content? I mean when wordpress updates, and even not just then, plugins seem to be constantly fixing bugs, or updating. Not bad if you have one or two blogs, but what if you operate a dozen or so blogs? It can become a full time job to just keep your plugins up to date, never mind add content. Well seems there is a solution, that involves some added code to your config file, that lets you have multiple blogs, on multiple domains, but with one install of the core, and the plugins. Makes more sense to start off slow, learn the basics about what goes into your blog, or site, than just dumping an installation on your server, and begin typing. Problems do come up, and you can’t afford to wait hours or even days, for some solution in a support forum. With a bit of basic knowledge, at least you can figure out where to look, and then who knows, maybe find the answer or fix, all on your own. Continue reading

Which way to go? Some argue that static pages, with a warning, will protect you from legal repercussions, while others disagree. However, what about the surfer? Does having a static front page turn them off, or does it have no effect on their desire to enter your site, and shop? What about returning visitors, does a static front page become an annoyance, that turns them off, so they don’t come back? Continue reading

A few additional tweaks to the config file, to make your blogging more fun, bit easier, and hassle free. Okay almost hassle free, as it does get harder from this point on, but hey, at least you managed the famous five minute install, have your virtual store all online, ready for you to make your first million. Oh, and please note, I didn’t say ‘first million WHAT’. But the techie stuff that is scary, is pretty well done now, and you can breathe a sigh of relief, as we move forward, to getting all the mechanics set up, so that your posts, actually make it live, and make sense, as well as let you be found. One has to keep in mind, that wordpress was designed for mainstream use, not adult. So some of the built in features can be tiresome if you are using your blog for adult. Revision Control is a way to stop one of those built in features. Continue reading

It helps your customers, if you can direct them to other posts, that relate to the topic at hand. Things like keeping posts on models, related to the sponsor, would make it easy for people to find other models. Great for tutorials as well. Continue reading

Once you have the domain and host, time to set up the configuration file for Wordpress. It is all written in Geek Speak, but not to worry. It actually isn’t all that bad, considering. Now you do need a good text editor, and no, don’t use MS Word. Use Word or Notepad, and follow the step by step guide to get all the database stuff entered, secure it, and well, now you can be ready for the five minute install. Sort of. Continue reading
