Adding links from within a blog post, or page, makes the link more valuable. It creates a more natural linking flow, in the eyes of the search engines, which helps the receiving site, in its rankings. The more links you get, like that, the more authoritative your site becomes, which gives you better standing in the all important indexes. Which way to go? Some argue that static pages, with a warning, will protect you from legal repercussions, while others disagree. However, what about the surfer? Does having a static front page turn them off, or does it have no effect on their desire to enter your site, and shop? Spam is the bane of Bloggers, and while Akismet does a super job, there are tricks you can employ to help keep them away. By using some of the available options in the settings area, you can manually ban selected IP addresses, or domain names. Heck, you can ban selected words, but with caution. The thing is, banned them, keeps them away, and that’s a good thing, in my mind. Least it stops seeing all those nasty spam numbers awaiting approval or action. Continue reading

Server Side Includes are more about making changes easier, to large websites. They can provide an easy means to add snippets of code, that are present on many pages, but are coded and styled from one single page.
