If you do any blogging, you’ll generally notice at the bottom of your admin a list of articles or tidbits of news. Do you ever read them? You really should, because there are some rather interesting little items in there, other than the latest plugins or theme releases.

One such item is an article about how the eye scans a web page. Nothing new in that, but you know, it is interesting to read because it can help you design your site layout. It talks about more than just columns and stuff, but about where the eye goes, and why.

It also talks about things like how to improve the stickiness of your page, with simple little format tricks, that actually make sense. It also talks about how ‘text‘ beats ‘images‘ which ought to surprise a few people.

Example being, I always wondered why blogs had such small print in the posts. I have searched endlessly for larger font blogs, but to no avail. After reading this article, and the one it references, I have ended my search for larger font blogs.

Strange isn’t it, but it is worth a read.

How applicable it is to porn is that it can help avoid the same old style. It lets you design, using ‘text‘ in balance with ‘images‘, to enhance a site’s sales ability. And that is good news.
