I wonder, just how open are we, as Webmasters, to new ideas?

Do you for example, trust another webmaster who offers you advice or do you just seek to get their input, knowing you are not going to listen to a word they say, simply because it is opposite to what you want to hear, or believe?

This is perhaps one of the things that frustrates me the most. I know when I entered this line of work eons ago, I knew absolutely nothing. It was from others that I got most of my answers, and from doing follow up research, based on their input. Yes, there were times I ignored their input, and things turned out okay, as well as hit the crapper.

So do you listen?

It is an odd thing, to see a industry that is so divided within itself. I mean there are enough outside this industry who want to tear us all limb from limb, yet we seem to thrive on doing it to ourselves. Simple things like pushing the envelope so far that it splits wide open. Things like using domain names that we know will attract kids, instead of looking a bit harder for a good domain name.

Things like using keywords to get listed on Search Engines, that we know skirt the legalities, all for garnering some fresh traffic. Things like having a problem, and instead of listening to people who have come across that same problem, you go listen to some crack head that knows shit.

Makes me wonder if we just don’t have a death wish or something. 

Bottom Line »  Is your firewall on? How about a good anti virus program? Running regular scans, and the big one… Have you backed up your data lately?
