Wordpress allows more flexibility for those who have some serious time constraints. The use of automation, such as feeds, as well as the advance scheduling option, allows a person to maintain their revenue streams, while doing other work. It isn’t the optimal solution, but in these days, sometimes it is all one is able to manage. Least it is for me. Thankfully wordpress and its plugins can make those changes, more palatable. Makes more sense to start off slow, learn the basics about what goes into your blog, or site, than just dumping an installation on your server, and begin typing. Problems do come up, and you can’t afford to wait hours or even days, for some solution in a support forum. With a bit of basic knowledge, at least you can figure out where to look, and then who knows, maybe find the answer or fix, all on your own. Continue reading

Sponsors need affiliates, to help push their sales, to make them a viable business, yet they fail to provide the necessary tools, in an easy manner, so that affiliates can do the job. It is like hiring a carpenter to build you a house, but instead of telling him the address you send him on a treasure hunt for clues, until eventually he winds up at the empty lot. Affiliate marketing is hard, with millions of people doing it, and yes, producing content isn’t easy either, but if you want to make sales, time that sponsors woke up, and delivered the right tools to their affiliates. Life teaches some hard lessons. Many never seem to learn from them, or if they do, it is often too late. Others simply ignore them, and move on, which doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Fact is, being an adult webmaster, is not quick, not easy, but then, being any kind of webmaster, isn’t easy. It always will take time, energy, and effort, in order to succeed, something the snake oil salesmen don’t tell you. There is no get rich quick scheme out there, that actually works. Oh they may just be legal, but bottom line is that you get hosed. Continue reading

It always amazes me how some people, who do a great deal of pontificating, about what is and what isn’t acceptable. They question the ethics, the morals, of those who even think of using objectionable images, and yet when they post such an image, it is somehow okay. I really don’t get the double standard they have. Continue reading

Using htaccess helps reduce the spam to your blog, but there are times when you just feel like it will never end. The truth is, these spammers seem to always be one step ahead of us, and it just seems to keep on growing, like a snowball rolling down a mountain. I suppose part of the problem rests with the idiots who actually buy from these cretins, and the other part, is we often ignore basic security procedures, to help stop them. HTACCESS is a simple solution, not ideal, but it can help, in the fight against unwanted spam, but like anything, it takes a bit of work to set up, and maintain. Continue reading

The latest ICQ update has me seeing red. I mean really, what with an increase in spam in the email, to telemarketers, you would think big outfits like ICQ would produce a product, that isn’t riddled with spyware, or attempts to make changes to key settings in your browser, without giving you a choice. Yet that is exactly what ICQ does, so beware, because it wasn’t IE that let it in, but the so called safe solution to IE, FIREFOX. Makes you wonder what else it lets into your computer, when you are browsing. Continue reading

Is it okay to use a picture or advertising copy from someone without their permission? Or is it stealing, but because everyone does it, we think its okay? Maybe we just figure that we are too small of a fish for the big boys, who own the stuff, to come after us, so its a simple matter of risk management? Course, we act differently when it is our stuff, don’t we? Continue reading
