Well, as the title says, this is a warning to everyone, as this particular dirty blond, begins the process of finally learning PHP & MYSQL.  Lord help those around me, because I am such a blond, that I can see myself climbing the walls, looking for answers on how to do stuff, that well, every geek knows.

Thing is, I got myself a Dummies book, and well, it cost something like $40 and being the cheap bastard I am, I am not about to let it lay there, unopened. In fact, I have already opened it, and began reading stuff, and have already yanked out two hairs, a couple of pounding sessions on my metal desk, and yelled at the wife three times.

AND THAT WAS JUST READING THE INTRODUCTION!

Okay, it really wasn’t that bad. I only yelled at David twice, but man, if this is what they mean by ’simple easy to understand language’ I am screwed.

I have some new projects to consider, hence my attempt at learning PHP and MYSQL that seem to go hand in hand. Plus, as a blogger, and with wordpress being in PHP & CSS, I really need to understand it better, so I can design, build, my own themes, that are what I want, not what someone else things I want.

And that is the bane of being a NON GEEK.  Relying on others to create, what we want.

So you are going to find some basic stuff here, as I learn this process, and either wind up throwing the computer away, hiring a designer & programmer, or settling for second best with out of the box themes, and programs.

I am not trying to become a designer, or programmer, but merely someone who can get their sites, to reflect them, to reflect my ideas, instead of someone else’s. For example, my political talk blog, has the perfect theme for what I want. Yet at the same time, I want to tweak some things, but am always afraid I’ll break it. By learning the intricacies of Wordpress, PHP, CSS, & MYSQL, I should be able to do some decent hacking/tweaking without destroying years of work.

Naturally everything will be fully backed up first.  I LEARNED THAT THE HARD WAY.

So get yourself comfortable, if you are interested in seeing me make a total idiot out of myself, as I struggle with what kids seem to grasp in a few hours.  Plus, it is math, and I hate Math. You can stay informed, by subscribing to the blog feed. It does make it easy to stay abreast of the new stuff, and we have moved the blog, so old feeds won’t be working.

Eventually I’ll get my fat ass in gear, and set up feedburner or something, but for now, you’ll have to make do with the old wordpress RSS FEED.

Anyhow, this is a warning, Blond Learning Ahead.
