Don’t really see much discussion about this on the straight side of the industry, but on the gay side, man is it a hot topic. That being the viral sites that allow for stolen content, like videos and photographs, to be constantly available online.
I am not talking about clips either, but full photo sets, and video.
Then I see many sites using tactics like the cross sells, or pre checked boxes hidden below the sign up form, and I wonder, maybe this industry really deserves to shoot itself in the foot? Maybe it creates a climate, where stealing someone’s intellectual property is okay, because after all, we steal their cash by hoodwinking them.
Think about it.
You go join a site, get hit with two or three pop ups, or worse. You have spyware downloaded to your computer, or added to your browser. There have even been cases of viruses being downloaded, and if that isn’t enough, you get a credit card bill for over a hundred bucks, because there were a couple of pre checked sign up boxes, that you didn’t see, or didn’t uncheck, if they let you that is.
Why should you not share the videos you download from those sites? And it isn’t like the other sites, who don’t do those things, are any better, or are they? Maybe you just lump them all together, so that if a porn site has some hot video, you figure, oh hell they have to be scum owners, so fuck it, I’ll download it and share it with others.
Interesting isn’t it, how we are able to justify STEALING.
Kind of makes sense why the Adult Industry has such a rotten reputation, isn’t it? And no wonder sites like Rapidshare exist and are so popular. Hell, bet many adult webmasters visit there too, and download songs and stuff, but when it comes to their stuff, well suddenly they are the wronged party, and suddenly, are off on a crusade.
Double Standards abound it seems, in life, but man it sure seems to be more the norm, than not, in the Adult Industry.
