I am certain most of you have heard about the Websites in a Box, or the Turnkey Sites, that offer you a golden chance, to become a webmaster. Everything you need, is included in the box kit, from manuals, to even a hosted site, along with a domain name or two, that yes, you even get to pick out.
Everything you need to be making Thousands Every Month, is included for the one low price of $500, $1000, $1500, or More. Some will upsell you from the smaller priced package, to the more deluxe one, even offering you terms, though most don’t.
Aren’t you so lucky you found them? Or checked their ad out more, from the late night television show you were watching?
NOT!
Like any industry, the online field has it’s snake oil salesmen/women and this is a favorite tactic of theirs.
They tell you everything you need is included, and hook you into their hosting plan, that is usually twice what it should be, if you went to a real host. They sell you a domain, from one of the pricier regstrars, and then you find out, they hold control over it, not you. You just pay for it.
It really is sad, at how they play on people’s inexperience, or desperation.
Truth is, they don’t really provide you with the real tools, that one needs to be successful. They don’t explain how you need to research your field, and how you need, to spend real time, in developing your product, site.
In fact, their biggest selling point is how the computer does the work while you are off, enjoying Life. Fact is, a computer won’t do that, until you tell it what to do, and that isn’t about punching a few buttons, or adding a few keystrokes every day.
It is about learning why things happen the way they do, online. It is about learning how to market things, how to use words in conjunction with graphics, to help make the sale, not rely on blind luck. Again, not what they tell you, because then why would you pay them?
After all, that is how they got rich, off your gullability.
