Should you update your ‘copyright‘ date on the footer of your blog or site?
Now, most blogs will automatically adjust the copyright date for you, but what about your static site, or dynamic one, for that matte? Do you update the copyright notice, and does it even matter?
Personally, using CSS along with Server Side Includes, it is rather easy to do, because basically it means you only have to update one single file, to make a change throughout your site.
As to whether it is important or not, I rather believe it all adds up, to making your site look and be professional. I think in the long run, it does matter, because it is about how you are presenting yourself to the public, to your potential customers.
Having a current ‘copyright‘ date displayed, does also indicate that your site is being updated, that it is being managed. This does help, in perception, and in, what I call, the trust factor. Customer’s want to trust a site, to know that what it offers is legit, not a scam.
An updated copyright notice isn’t huge, but it all adds up.
